On 12th June I'm packing my very large kit bag and heading of to Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro.  Over 7 days I'll be trekking (and rapping classics with Nicole) from the heat of the rainforest up to an altitude of 5,896m and sleep in temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius.

I thought about setting up a page to sponsor Steve having the kids on his own for 10 days but after much deliberation decided against it, even if this is far more challenging than climbing Kili.  However, to make this self funded trip more worthwhile I have decided to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity

In July last year my brother in law Dave, finally lost his fight against a brain tumour after 3 years.  He was only 49.  Any money raised will go to this charity which we hope will one day find a cure and spare another family from this loss.

So many peoples lives are affected by this illness in one way or another, it is the biggest cancer killer in the UK of children and young adults and yet they receive less than 1% of the national spend on cancer research.
