Between Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June 2013 Colin Diamond, Tom and Greg Adams completed the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for The Stroke Association completing it in 26 hours and 40 minutes.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with the challenge, it involved ascending and descending The 3 highest peaks of Scotland (Ben Nevis - 1344m), England (Scafell Pike - 978m) & Wales (Snowdon -1085m) and driving between them. It involves 463 miles of driving, 3064 metres (10,052ft) in ascent, and 24.5 miles (39.43km) of hiking!!!
We've chosen to raise money for the Stroke Association in memory of Greg & Tom Adams grandmother Kathleen Barber who suffered from a Stroke.
Every year an estimated 150,000 people in the UK have a stroke. That's one person every five minutes. Most people affected are over 65, but anyone can have a stroke, including children and even babies.
The Stroke Association provide information to stroke patients and their families, fund research with the aim of making stroke a preventable and treatable disease & improving the quality of life of those affected and provide support services including carer support.
