Fundraising for Pine Tree Society
Story
Pine Tree Camp opened its gates in 1945 as a summer camp for children with physical disabilities. Over the years, it has evolved into a place where children and adults with disabilities are able to participate in all the recreational activities for which Maine is known all year long. The barrier-free setting, along with an amazing staff, ensure that activities like swimming, fishing, kayaking, hiking, boating and even camping in a tent under the stars are completely accessible to all. Participating in activities that take people beyond their disability has a tremendous impact. It builds self-esteem and self-confidence. That experience coupled with meeting friends who understand and experiencing the feeling of acceptance is transformational. Pine Tree Camp welcomes all who could benefit regardless of their ability to pay tuition. All proceeds from the Snowmobile Ride-In will go to Pine Tree Camp's fund to ensure this "Open Door Policy" remains in effect.
Get to Know Scott Miller
Scott is co-host of the Q106.5 Morning Show and absolutely loves what he does for a living. He was born in Nova Scotia and grew up in Toronto before moving to the United State in the 1980s. As a kid he was in Maine every summer and is happy to have had the chance to make the Pine Tree State his home. Learn more about Scott in the

Have you ridden a snowmobile before?
I have, but not as much as I’d like to. I enjoy it but it’s not something I do very often.
My father was a snowmobile rider and we rode together a few times when I was a teenager and, after he retired, whenever I visited, we’d always go to his camp and ride together.
Do you like winter?
I like winter in Florida! It’s not my favorite season so I tend to get through it one day at a time.
Why is this snowmobile ride meaningful to you?
When I first came to the radio station, we’d been doing the Q106.5 Egg Ride for Pine Tree Camp for 30 years. I think it’s important to
carry on the tradition. Once you have the chance to meet someone who goes to Pine Tree Camp, you can just see what it does for them and the positive effect it has on their confidence and self-esteem
all year round. The Egg Ride is an important way to raise money so those who can’t afford to pay for camp don’t have to worry about it, they can still go.
What is your favorite song right now?
Good god I could never narrow my favorite song down to less than a hundred! So, let’s go with Let it Snow by Dean Martin. Hopefully we get snow this year for the weekend of the Egg Ride!

Get to Know Cindy Campbell
Cindy is co-host of the Q106.5 Morning Show and can’t imagine any other job being as much fun as hers. Just over 34 years ago, she applied for the job by answering an ad in the newspaper and has been with the station ever since. The Q106.5 Egg Ride for Pine Tree Camp isn’t just a work tradition for her, it’s a family tradition as well.
Her youngest son has come to the ride with her for many years and has now started bringing his own sons with him to volunteer. Learn more about Cindy in the Q&A below.
Have you ridden a snowmobile before?
Over 30 years ago, I rode a snowmobile for the first time in my very first Q106.5 Egg Ride. The Egg Ride is the only time I ride a snowmobile so ever since that first ride, I’ve ridden a sled once a year.
Do you like winter?
I’m born and raised in Maine but winter is not my favorite season. I like it when it’s snowing though. I’m not wild about it when it starts piling up but I like it when it snows.
Why is this snowmobile ride meaningful to you?
This Q106.5 Egg Ride is meaningful to me because of what it represents. This ride helps kids go to Pine Tree Camp. I’ve been to camp and have met many of the campers. I’m happy to do anything I can to help kids have the Pine Tree Camp experience.
What’s your favorite song right now?
My favorite song of all time is not a country song. It’s Hotel California by the Eagles. It takes me back to high school dances. I just love that song!
