At 10am on 10th February 2022, over 100 cyclists will leave BT Murrayfield Stadium with the match ball for the Doddie Weir Cup. Their aim will be to get to the Principality Stadium, in Cardiff, in time for the KO of the Wales v Scotland match.

Story

My Name'5 Doddie Foundation has ploughed £6.5m into MND research in the last 4 years, and we hope that a breakthrough in treatment will be just round the corner, in time for Doddie, and to help the countless future victims of MND.

To that end, on Thursday 10th February, a group of crazy human beings have decided to ride from Murrayfield (Edinburgh) to the Principality Stadium (Cardiff) in 48 hours in order to raise more valuable funds for Doddie and his incredible foundation.

This 515-mile ride will be tackled by team 'The Wheel Deal', made up of the following riders and support crew:

  • Ollie Phillips (England 7s Captian, World 7s Player of the Year & European Player of the Year )
  • Paul Volley (Champions cup and three Premiership titles with Wasps)
  • John Hall (President Bath RFC, England and Babaa's legend)
  • Tom Leefe (Business owner, Brain tumour survivor and one of the original Doddie 500 / Wounded Lions riders)
  • James Morris (Cyclist, Dad, Lawyer and Company secretary)
  • Ben Glenister (Bicycle Mechanic and Support Vehicle)
  • Jake Phillips (Bicycle Mechanic and Support Vehicle)

Everyone involved has either known or played with or against Doddie Weir back in the day, and will all be taking part in this challenge to support him and his fight against Motor Neurone Disease

They will be supported by Ben Glenister and Jake Phillips (Benchmark Bicycles Repairs in Farnham) who will look after the riders bikes and nutrition and ensure their safety whilst out on the road.

The challenge is 515 miles in 48 hours, yes you read that correctly……. all in the name My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, and we are looking for your support.

All monies will go directly to the charity, and into research to find effective treatments for this dreadful disease - Motoneurons disease.

The cyclists will be covering all the costs of their own ride and support vehicles so please click on the link and chose the relevant team member. Make sure you include your name so we can get back to you and please give as much or as little as you can. Wish us luck………
