Story
May peace be upon all reading this,
As a group of friends and the IMed community at University of Birmingham we have decided to raise funds for an emergency medical fund for the children of Yemen on behalf of our dear friend Salmaan Ashraf who passed away over the summer.
Salmaan as a medical student achieved an exceptional amount in his life academically, but it was his strength of character and perseverance that we will all remember him for. He prided himself on his individuality and many will remember moments of eccentricity with great fondness. He was never afraid to be unusual or think differently and anyone who had a meaningful conversation with him will rarely have come away without learning or considering something new.
In relation with his future ambitions as a doctor, we are investing in one of the most sustainable ways of charity in his name - to save a life. This emergency medical/surgical fund will be a lifeline for many Yemeni children who expereince sudden injuries and require emergency surgery. It typically takes a while for funding to be made available for these kinds of surgeries and could result in loss of life or permanent loss of function. Having a charitable fund ready will prevent delays and havea huge impact on the children's lives.
Please do give generously to support this endeavour on behalf of Salmaan and for the opportunity to save and benefit children's lives across Yemen. Jazakh'Allah Khair and Thank you.
"...whoever saves the life of a person is as if he has saved the life of the whole of mankind."
