Thanks for having a read:
My mission to raise £5000 for macmillan continues. On April the 26th I completed the London marathon in a time of 5 hours and 8 minutes. It was one of the proudest moments of my life. My brother, friends and half of London were on hand to wish me well and support from the side lines.
In total I raised over £2,750 a staggering amount of money, that only goes to show that the love and support for myself and the charity from family friends and strangers is strong and something close to a lot of people's hearts, it was humbling to be supported by so many good people.
I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in April - May 2014. I was fortunate enough to have discovered this at a stage where it was very treatable. As with most cancer diagnosis the time it takes to diagnose the disease can be quite stressful and worrying.
At times when I was low and I had leant on my family enough I spent a lot of time with macmillan. There support was instrumental in dealing with my conflicting emotions. Without there council I don't know what I would have done, I do know that I wouldn't have made the changes in my life that I now have.
On the day that I received my operation to remove the cancer I weighed over 27 stone. Today I am 10 stone lighter.
With the support of my wife and children I am now going to push myself to complete the Bournemouth marathon at least 45 minutes faster than my London marathon time A statement that hopefully won't come back to haunt me.
