Many of you will know that my study of English history has led me to conclude that Henry VII was our finest ever monarch. I have therefore decided to re-trace the steps of Henry Tudor in 1485, from the mouth of Milford Haven (where he landed on August 7^th) to Bosworth Field where, on August 22^nd, his success in battle made him king.

This will involve walking 224 miles in 15 days, at an average of 15 miles per day, and I will stay within a mile or so of where his army is known to have camped each night (no, I will not be camping !).

As you probably also know, I am a diabetic and it has only been the scientific advances of recent decades in monitoring and treatment that have made such a trip possible for me. I therefore hope to raise a few pounds for Diabetes UK, to support them in continuing to make life for diabetics even less constrained in future.
