Ummah Welfare Trust was founded to challenge the huge poverty and injustice prevalent in the Ummah today. Inspired by the Islamic teachings of empathy and selflessness, the charity strives to support and uplift the impoverished through the beautiful act of charity.

Story

As a group of friends, we decided to come together to raise funds for a beneficial cause and make a difference this Ramadhan by creating a charity appeal on behalf of UWT for water pumps.

WE ARE NOT TAKING PAYMENTS AS ZAKAT . The water pumps will be allocated to a community, not in the ownership of one single person. A requirement of Zakat is that one person is given complete ownership of the money donated.

Donate any amount (sadaqah/lillah) for the following much-needed water projects/Mushafs:

Cost for One pump in India cost £170.

Many people in the developing world rely on open water sources that have no cover. An unsealed water source means the water becomes dirty and contaminated, leading to the spread of disease.

In more flat fertile areas, such as parts of South and East Asia, hand pumps are ideal for villages and households. Surface sources are common, so only a basic pump suffices for poor families trying to meet their water requirements.

Suction hand pumps are cheap, easy to install and maintain. Maintenance is done at the village level without the need for specialist parts. The maximum column of water the pump can physically lift is approximately 7m. The pumps are made from cast iron.

Any additional funds that don't amount to the sum of a pump will be donated for Qurans.

Cost for one Quran is £2.50

Please specify in the comments which cause you would like to donate too, and how much.

May Allah accept all your efforts.
