Story
Here is a brief intro of what Durrell is.
Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust is an international charity working to save species from extinction. Established by author and conservationist, Gerald Durrell, in 1959, Durrell’s overall aim is for more diverse, beautiful and resilient natural landscapes in which species can thrive and people can enjoy a deeper connection with nature. Their approach concentrates on the most threatened wildlife in the most threatened places.
Now, our Team story goes as follows. Audrey from Canada and Chantelle from South Africa connected via social media a few months before the 2019 edition. During the race, Audrey and Chantelle met Veronica from Italy.
Katja and Alina both from Germany got to Jersey together. Iriz is from the USA met with Katja from Germany during the race. Audrey met Katja and Alina in the VIP line-up. Veronica met with Minca at the airport on their way back home.
A few days after everyone returned home, Audrey got in touch with Chantelle and discussed returning to Jersey for the 2020 edition. They, later on, they decided to create The International Durrell Team after speaking with Veronica and the other ladies.
The registration for the team was done on Jan 16th. Each will train on their own schedule in their respective countries and meet on May 17th at the Start line.
* With the worldwide pandemic, the charity event was seen pushed from May 17th to Sept 27th. Each member of the team keeps on training and raising donations for the DWCT *
