Story
Nearly 14 million people in the UK (one in five people) struggle getting enough to eat.
That includes 4 million children!
Those numbers have soared as a result of the cost of living crisis, with food price inflation hitting an all-time high of 13.1%. In London alone, more than 2.3 million Londoners live below the poverty line and 33% of adults have skipped meals to save money so that their children can eat.
There are more people in food insecurity now than there were at the height of the pandemic, with mixed ethnicity families being 32% more likely to live in relative poverty.
“People are telling us they’re skipping meals so they can feed their children. That they are turning off essential appliances so they can afford internet access for their kids to do their homework… and it’s only getting worse” - Chief Executive, Trussell Trust.
This is happening in the UK, the 5th biggest economy in the world! And it’s unacceptable!
That’s why the GBP Consult team have taken on the Tough Mudder Challenge to support the Trussell Trust. Last year, the Trussell Trust provided over 2.1 million emergency food parcels to people in crisis through their network of food banks, with 832,000 of these parcels going to children. Fantastic organisations like this deserve our support, and we see no cause more worthy to get beaten up for!
All money raised will go directly to the Trussell Trust, helping do our bit to fight the food crisis. Thank You!
