Story
Talley Webb, founder of Journey To Better Therapeutic Consulting has brought together two world-class ultra cyclists, Paul Webb and Mark Gibson to raise awareness of the mental health challenges facing our youth, and resources to help them, through Sky's The Limit Fund (STLF) and their wilderness partners: True North Wilderness, New Vision Wilderness Therapy, Blue Fire Wilderness, Outback Therapeutic Expeditions, Open Sky Wilderness, Anasazi Foundation, SUWS of the Carolinas, Pacific Quest, Summit Achievement, Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness, Trails Carolina, Deschutes Wilderness Therapy and Aspiro.
Therapeutic Wilderness programs exist to provide a rich, intensive, clinically-proven therapeutic experience for a child and their family struggling with mental health and addiction, providing tools to get better. However, this level of care is costly, and beyond the reach of many families. STLF provides much needed financial support, and many wilderness programs will match their grants
Why is this so important
Whether it's the result of the Pandemic, social pressure or the impact of the troubles around the world. Many of today's teens and young adults are crippled with anxiety and depression and turning to unhealthy ways of self medication or self harm. JTB has seen first hand how wilderness therapy can turn lives around and give the participants a new sense of self and purpose. Your donations can literally save lives.
About the Ride
Mark and Paul will start the ride at Drake Park in Bend Oregon, home of Deschutes Wilderness therapy and Skyline Recovery, joined by members of Pacific Quest and True North Wilderness for the start of the ride.
From there, they will ride past Mount Bachelor and the Cascade lakes to the foot of Crater lake before turning west through Medford, and Crescent City on the way to the Avenue of the Giants in Humboldt Redwood State Park . From this point it's a straight shot along Highway 1 through Mendocino to the Tomales Bay, Point Reyes and finally the Golden Gate Bridge. The team will ride together covering 150 miles a day to complete the ride in 5 days.
Both of our riders have their own story to tell, facing mental health challenges in their own families. Riding has become a platform to manage stress, support worthy causes, and make a difference to others.
Your tax-deductible donation to this cause will go directly to families in need of support for their child’s recovery, right now. 100%.
