Story
On the 12th of September 2019 we lost our beautiful daughter / sister Zoë at the tender age of 26 following a short but intense battle with a very rare form of Leukaemia. Having gone to hospital on the 18th of August in good spirits we never could have imagined that in the space of a few hours she would fall into a coma and never regain consciousness.
It goes without saying that it has been an incredibly traumatic and difficult few months but we have received fantastic support from family and friends and now the time has come to begin thinking about how we can best honour Zoë’s life.
With that in mind, I will be swimming 5 Marathon length 10km swims across the UK in the next 10 months with the aim to swim the channel in the Summer of 2021. The first of these swims will take place on Sunday 10th of November.
I will be doing this for the Blood Cancer UK which is dedicated to funding research into all blood cancers including Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia (APL). Whilst APL itself can respond well to treatment, the importance of early detection cannot be underestimated. With the money raised we hope to fund additional research into the early stages of the disease to help early detection and increase the chances of successful treatment.
Given the number of events and the time in between them I will be keeping this page open for the foreseeable future and sending it around ahead of the swims. Any contribution big or small is hugely appreciated!
