Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. The Blue Highways and Friends are raising money through their charity single, a cover of Van Morrison's 'Days Like This', for Women's Aid, to help raise funds so that their digital servies can stay open.
In collaboration with some of our friends from across the UK Americana scene we’re delighted to release a cover of the classic Van Morrison song ‘Days Like This’, raising money for Women’s Aid. You can watch it here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFgvaBv38Ds
One of the most dangerous and concerning side-effects of the lockdown has been a rise in the number of domestic violence incidents. Women’s Aid is a leading charity in the UK for helping support and protect women and children from domestic abuse. The surge in demand has led them to put a call out via an emergency appeal to raise funds for their Live Chat service. 'Women need to be able to access expert, private support, wherever they are. Women’s Aid’s Live Chat service is a life-line to women that are unable to reach out for help over the phone, or who prefer to communicate online.'
With some of our friends across the Americana scene very generously lending their voices and instruments in support, we remotely recorded Days Like This. We would like to say a huge thanks to all those involved including: Ferris & Sylvester, Robert Vincent, Emily Barker, Lukas Drinkwater, Pete Gow, Lewis Fowler, Henry Sr, Eddy Smith, Jake Stanton, Rhona Carse and our mixing engineer Julien Baraness. We'd also like to thanks Matt George Lovett who edited together the music video for us.
We hope you enjoy the song, and would ask you to please consider donating, all proceeds go directly to Women’s Aid’s SupportSurvivors appeal. For every donation made we will send you a direct link to the mp3 for the track.

Before Covid-19, the Womens Aid Live Chat was already a vital lifeline for women who couldnt find the words or were unsure whether they are experiencing abuse. But this support is now needed more than ever. Each chat between a survivor and Womens Aid expert support worker costs roughly £5. By donating the price of the bus to work or a morning coffee pre-Covid, you could support one woman indefinitely trapped with abuse.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving as they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So its the most efficient way to donate saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
