Story
It started with a Facebook request, to see who, if anyone, wanted to join me in doing the Yorkshire 3 Peak challenge as one of my things to do before I turn 40 in September.
Turns out quite a few did.
Before long an incredible 25 friends from all different parts of my life had agreed to walk with me, sleep in a bunk house, and help raise money for JDRF.
JDRF raises vital funds for research and support with Type 1 Diabetes. My eleven year old daughter was diagnosed with this chronic condition 4 years ago at the tender age of six. Since then she has given herself over 8,500 injections and copes daily with a condition that doesn't have a pause button, is 24/7 and is pretty relentless.
Many are misinformed about Type 1 Diabetes, it isn't lifestyle, she didn't eat too much sugar.
The truth is it is a cruel autoimmune disease which isn't curable, can be life consuming and can have serious repercussions if not managed at all times.
It is exhausting, but my daughter is a trooper - but I would still like a cure in her lifetime, and cannot express my gratitude enough to these women for walking with me.
Please donate what you can.
