Story
On September 26th 2021, I will be running the Robin Hood Half Marathon, in memory of my dad who passed away 10 years ago. My brother Harj and sister-in-law Sandish are also taking up the challenge to cross the finish line with me (more pro than me for sure!)
Dad spent two weeks in the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Queens Medical Centre (QMC) in Nottingham, some days he was on the road to recovery, other days he wasn't. He passed away on 11th April 2011.
We are raising money for the ICU at QMC for the incredible support they gave us as a family and for the care, comfort and treatment Dad received during his time in hospital. 10 years on, I still remember how much they did to try to keep Dad with us. I will never forget how supportive the staff were, working 24/7, day and night, treating seriously ill patients. They are true heroes.
I wish I could tell him about the brutal, yet motivating challenge I have been training for since March this year. It goes without saying, I have never run before in my life! I will be completing my first half marathon, back home in Nottingham (Dad would have said..." this one will be tough")...and it is!
By fundraising to this page, you will help support me in thanking the ICU team and provide improved facilities, equipment, research & staff development to enhance future patient care.
A huge thank you for your support in helping me and my family get across the finish line.
Varinder, Harj and Sandish xx
