LATEST NEWS, Wednesday 21st May
We made it! My goodness are we sore. We both 'hit the wall' late on the first day, but some timely support from the bank and cheering at the locks and encouragement from other boats revitalised us. We had a great welcome at Teddington and somehow found hidden reserves for a bit of a push to the finish. Blisters, sore backsides and pulled muscles and tendons abound, but it was all worthwhile. Thank you everyone for supporting us
It all starts on Monday! Tomoorow 21st May, we leave to set up camp at Lechlade for a 6am start on Tuesday. Maybe we will see you along the way. Our immense thanks to the following offline donors
Ashbrittle PCC £50. Jill Larpent £100 'My thoughts are with you and your aching muscles-Good Luck' Angie Hannon £30 and Peggy Wotton £10
.......Launch of the beer, Thames24, at Masters Brewery was a great night....... Wonderful support........ The beer is getting better and better and a great aid to training!!!......Change of boat for correct weight has improved speed.
We are doing a third Thames Challenge to support the Royal Marines. 125 miles, Lechlade to Teddington, in a double scull, in 24 hours. This will take 30,000 rowing strokes and our target is £1 a stroke. Any donation will be fantastic. You could also create your own indoor rowing challenge or other event an donate the money you raise. How many strokes can your team do?
