Tessa Wells is raising money for Friends Of Kent Churches
Story
It's that time of year again, when we start preparations for the annual Friends of Kent Churches sponsored ride and walk, to be held this year on Saturday 13 September.
Andrew and I will again start from Mereworth and visit between 20 and 30 of our lovely Kent churches, of course hoping for lovely weather for cycling. The vast majority of the churches will be open, and many give riders and walkers refreshments as well.
At the moment our historic tower and spire is clothed in dramatic scaffolding, in preparation for work to secure this wonderful church for future generations. Of the funds that we raise, half goes to St Lawrence's church, Mereworth. The other half of the money raised goes to the Friends of Kent Churches for distribution as grant aid to needy churches - and Mereworth church has benefited from the Friends' generosity.
