Story
I’m so excited to be running the London Marathon 2024 in aid of St Richard’s hospice who provide exceptional care and support across Worcestershire. I am running in memory of my brilliant Dad who sadly passed away in January 2023 after a 2 and ½ year journey with Bowel Cancer. I know that he will be very proud of me completing this mammoth task, having been such a sporty person himself!
St Richard’s Hospice started to provide support to my Dad and family in the Autumn of 2022, when Dad’s cancer had returned. The support received over the next couple of months from the hospice was excellent. They not only looked after Dad’s medical needs, but also supported my family with counselling and be a shoulder to cry on!
In Dad’s last few days, St Richard’s hospice were great in providing support to ensure that he could be at home and comfortable but that we had all the equipment and care packages in place to help us at our most vulnerable time. It was, without a doubt, the hardest time, but the care, compassion & empathy showed by the hospice was incredible.
St Richard’s Hospice relies on donations to help them raise the majority of their income. It is through donations previously that we were able to use the services provided, at the most heart-breaking time. Thank you for donating, I really appreciate it – now to drag myself around 26.2 miles!
