I am so excited to have the opportunity to be running for WPA in the 2022 NYC Marathon! 

Growing up, I watched my mom as a social worker help disadvantaged individuals gain access to the care they needed. My best friend worked with incarcerated individuals during her clinical rotation. She would often share their stories with me, leading to discussions of inequity in our society. 

The work of these women in my life have inspired me to help those left behind by our justice system. My goal is to raise $3500 for the Women's Prison Association.

WPA is the nations first organization for women impacted by incarceration. 

The number of women in state prison in the U.S. has increased by 834% over the last four decades. That is more than twice the rate of increase that men experienced. 

WPAs alternative to incarceration program allows women to avoid prison or jail. Instead they address the challenges that led to their arrest in the community. 

It costs New York City $550K to incarcerate someone for one year. For the same amount, WPA can provide 94 women with safer, less costly alternatives to incarceration that includes comprehensive case management, safe and stable housing, and employment assistance supports.

From starting my running career at 9-years-old with a quick jog up and down the block to blow off steam, I am so excited to tackle all 26.2 miles! Please considering donating to WPA to further support me in the NYC marathon!
