Story
Terry was diagnosed several years ago with CLL, a form of blood cancer which affects the body's production of white blood cells.
Blood cancer is the UK’s third biggest cancer killer, and yet awareness and understanding of it is much lower than for other types of cancer.
A common treatment for blood cancer which sadly wasn't an option for Terry but could be for so many others, is a stem cell (bone marrow) transplant.
The process of stem cell donation is usually as simple as the process of donating blood, but it's only a viable option when a blood cancer patient can be matched with a suitable donor.
DKMS make it their mission to raise awareness and get as many donors on to the register as possible. The more people there are on the register, the greater the chance that blood cancer sufferers will find their potentially life saving match.
