EVERY 90 SECONDS someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI). There are many possible causes, such as a fall, a road traffic accident, an assault, a tumour or a stroke. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, we're here to help

Story

Terry Wroe sadly sustained severe brain injuries following a heart attack and died aged 72 on 27 July 2015.

We, Terry's family, have now learned that many more people are surviving heart attacks outside hospital due to effective CPR, defibrillators in the community and wonderful care from NHS staff; however many leave hospital with brain injuries as a result of loss of oxygen to the brain in the minutes following a cardiac arrest. We'd like Terry's family and friends, if they wish and are able, to support Headway - the brain injury association, to ensure those who sustain brain injuries, and their families get the best care and support needed.
