Story
In July 2019 we lost our baby boy shortly after being born.
The pregnancy was complicated and my wife's waters broke at 26 weeks leaving us in and out of hospital for 4 weeks, before the challenges just got too much for poor Seb. Over those weeks we got to know many of the incredible staff at Kings College very well, and their care and attention throughout that time helped us through an extremely scary and difficult time.
In Jan 2021 we rushed into the same hospital in similar circumstances with the birth of our daughter, Minni. Unbeknown to us, a few familiar faces were due to be clocking off from another long shift, but stayed beyond time and went above and beyond the call of duty, to help our family not suffer the same fate.
Minni was brought back to life quickly and made an incredible recovery through NICU and home with us in a matter of days.
No amount of money in the world can repay the NHS for that, but we've seen first hand the facilities and equipment they need to make miracles happen and help families like ours go home with smiles on their faces.
On June 19 2022 I'll be cycling from London (Clapham Common) to Brighton. I'll also cycle to Clapham Common for the start, so in total i'll be riding around 100km in total.
Those of you that know me well, know I've been a keen runner in the past. And that 100km on a bike might not seemingly be a challenge. But for a number of reasons I've fallen out of love with exercise and this will be a challenge, both physically and mentally. I'll be thinking of my boy the entire way and pushing myself to complete the course in as quick a time as possible.
