Story
In April 2023, I will be taking on the huge challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to celebrate my 67th birthday. I have found the Marines to be a family, my father was in the Corp throughout the war and was at D-day and Burma, although he never spoke about this he was awarded a large number of medals. I was much more fortunate to serve in more peaceful times and carrying on the tradition one of my sons is currently serving in the Marines. Recently a number of my former comrades whom I had served with have passed away, I thought this would be a good opportunity before I have to account for my previous actions to our commander in the sky to do some good.
Due to a number of health issues I have not so much as run for a bus for many years, they say you cannot make fine Steel without putting it through fire and water, so to the great amusement of my family I have started training. My first course of action has been to dunk myself in freezing water every day, apparently this is good for you, however the main benefit I have noticed so far is it gives me a chance to focus on the madness of my forthcoming challenge.
Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference to many Marines and their families who have not been so fortunate in life as myself.
