Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Like many other charities, Romsey Mill has suffered a significant fall in income during lockdown. Since March 2020, many fundraising events could not take place, and other sources of revenue such as its Charity Shop on Mill Road, and Cara Coffee, its community café in Great Shelford were closed.
The Aspire Programme is just one of the community support programmes that Romsey Mill has to offer. This fantastic group has been part of our lives since October 2018. Their support has been, and continues to be, invaluable. Without a doubt they have played a major part (along with Chris Kent of the K9 Project) in helping our eldest.
Long story short(ish) seeing the positive changes in our eldest is motivating me to give something back. Whatever funds I raise will be gratefully received, going towards keeping The Aspire Programme running, enabling them to continue to help other young people.
Here's a little of what The Aspire Programme offers:
The Aspire Programme supports young people (9 - 18 year olds) in Cambridge who have been diagnosed with high-functioning autistic spectrum conditions and who are in mainstream education.
Our weekly youth clubs create a social space for members to interact at a level with which they are comfortable. We offer a high ratio of support from committed volunteers. Young people come to relax and be themselves, and to do things that they enjoy. There is no pressure to socialise, but members often find they enjoy sharing activities such as board games, pool, table tennis, lego, crafts or cooking, with others who have similar interests and difficulties. One member said "Autistic people just understand each other."
