Story
As you may be aware, I have been supporting Farleigh Hospice for the last five years by taking part in the Cycle for Life. Farleigh is a local hospice/charity that provides vital support for people affected by life limiting or terminal conditions, including cancer, neurological diseases and chronic heart and lung diseases. They also provide invaluable
support for carers and families, and for those who have been bereaved. As many of you will know, nearly three years ago I was myself diagnosed with breast cancer, but fortunately for me, it was
caught in the early stages and after surgery and radiotherapy I recovered.
For others, though, the outcome is not so positive, and for those people
and their families, Farleigh provides a lifeline of services and support at an incredibly difficult time in their lives. Farleigh Hospice receives only 40% of its funding from the NHS, so for the remaining 60% they rely on the support of the local community and fundraising events to help
fund provide the £16k it costs to run their services each day.
I will be completing (hopefully!) the 100km (60 mile) course on Sunday 16th September, and have been frantically training for this for the last few months.
