Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Alongside a dear friend, Mike, I am taking part in the Inca trail challenge raising funds for the Alzheimer's society to contribute towards further research into this frightening disease. The challenge will be great and daunting but not so daunting and frightening as living with this illness.
Many of us will know someone suffering from Alzheimer's or at least someone caring for a sufferer. Any donation given in sponsorship for this challenge no matter how GREAT or small the amount is our opportunity to help them and perhaps contribute to a time when this disease may not be something that robs us of our own personality and independence.
My Mother in law, Agnes, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and perhaps may be considered one of the "lucky ones" in that she is in the early stages and medication appears to be maintaining that at this time. She's a great lady who did much for her local community and can still contribute to this albeit in a much smaller role now. We know all too well that this may change in a instant.
I am not the fittest person as some of you who know me will be aware but Agnes, along with other's I have met who have connection with Alzheimer's, will be my inspiration to achieve this goal and do what small bit I can to help.
I am paying all of my own costs such as travel etc to do this challenge and therefore all donations given by yourselves will go solely to the Alzheimer's Society.
Many thanks.
Lots of love
Teresa xx
