Our St Catherine's Hospice heroes will take on Saghro Mountains. Separating the High Atlas mountains and the Sahara desert, their route will travel through lunar landscapes and towering rock formations - an adventure lover's paradise.

Story

I have decided to complete this challenge in memory of my brother, who spent the last months of his life in another hospice, in Poland. Irek was diagnosed with a brain tumour in January 2021 and he passed away in November the same year, at the age of only 47 years old.

This was a really emotional time for me, but it also made me realise how important to always move forward, to follow in pursuit of things which are important for us in our lives.

I want to challenge myself, and get out of my comfort zone. I want to follow my dreams and do things which bring me joy and fulfilment.

I know that fundraising £2990 will be challenging. And I know that trekking 5 days in a row will not be easy with my fibromyalgia and underactive thyroid problems. But I'm determined to challenge myself and to achieve those goals. Hope you can help me with that 🧡 I need to fundraise £2300 by the middle of August 2024 in order to be able to go to Jordan. The remaining £690 can be raised after that date.

By helping me, you will also support a very important cause - work of a hospice.

Sometimes we don't realise how important the role of a hospice can be in such difficult situations, until we are faced with the worst.

Hospice is a place which provides compassionate care for people in the last phases of incurable disease so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible. It prioritizes comfort and quality of life by reducing pain and suffering, providing support and and safe environment.

Their help can make a huge difference to the life of the patient and their family. Hospice always needs funds to be able to care for people the best they can, and every donation will make a difference.

St Catherine's Hospice cares for local people at the end of their lives in Surrey and Sussex, and supports those closest to them. Every step taken by the hospice heroes on their journey to Petra will help the hospice be there for local people and those close to them when life comes full circle. Our Trek to Petra will take our team on an adventure following an ancient Bedouin migration route to Petra, experiencing some of the most spectacular natural scenery in Jordan along their journey.

This trek is voted by National Geographic as one of the worlds best hikes and it is growing a reputation as the Inca Trail of the Middle East. The team will be covering up to 10 miles a day over 5 consecutive days of walking and challenging terrain

Please support my trek and help the hospice be there for local people and those close to them when life comes full circle.
