Story

"As a cancer survivor myself I am only too aware of the difficulties faced by a diagnosis of cancer.....for a child affected by cancer it can be devastating"..Trevor Woodford (Team Member)

Cyclists Fighting Cancer helps overcome these difficulties by providing bikes, adapted tricycles and equipment to children and young people whose lives have been affected by cancer. The purpose of our ride is to draw attention to the work that CFC does and raise funds to help them to continue this important work......

 OUR TEAM AND OUR CHALLENGE:-

On the 8th June 2013 our team of four riders and one support driver left the UK in an attempt to cycle through ten countries in ten days - the route we chose meant that we were cycling up to 96 miles a day and as if to make the ride even more of a challenge the combined age of our team was over 300 years. Yes, three of the team are OAPs and two of those are cyclists....(see below)

The grand finale of the ride was the signature climb of the Giro Di Lombardia from Bellagio on the shores of Lake Como up to the Santuario della Madonna del Ghisallo..known as the 'cyclists chapel'.

We were following a linear route and passed through the following countries:-  England- The Netherlands-Belgium-France- Luxembourg-Germany-- Lichtenstein - Austria- Switzerland- Italy.  As well as our destination, highlights of the route included the Black Forest and the Swiss/Italian Alps

 The team members were:-

 *TREVOR WOODFORD (cyclist) age65

 *JOHN DONOGHUE (cyclist) age59

 *JON JOYNES (cyclist) age42

 *LORENZO MARASPIN (cyclist) age66

 *DAVID VAUGHAN (support driver) age70

We all love cycling and are positive that with your help we can make a difference for children and young people whose lives have been affected by cancer......You can checkout the daily progress we made at my blog:- #mce_temp_url#
