Thanks for taking the time to visit the 10,000 days of Bhopal JustGiving page.
At the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984 Sebastian Coe ran 1,500 metres in 3 minutes, 32.53 seconds. Breathless, aching, racked with pain, he won the Gold Medal and learned that he had set a new Olympic record. That same year began the long torment of the Bhopalis. On a fiercely cold night in December they began running for their lives and many have known not one day of comfort since. Breathless, aching, racked with pain, they come to our clinic. If one form of physical torture feels like another, then had Seb Coe kept running after 1,500 metres, and carried on for 3,834,108 miles, 148,000 marathons, or 160 laps of the Earth, he would by now know what it feels like to be a Bhopali.
April 2012 marks 10,000 days since the Bhopal gas disaster. The factory site has still not been cleaned up and many of the surviviors do not have access to clean water.
