Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 27 September 2014, I lost my dearest friend, Katie Alice Maxwell after a brave fight against cancer. Such a bright, beautiful girl, she was more than just a friend she was kind, loving, happy caring and bought fun and happiness to my life. I think of her often and of Cohen her beautiful little boy and partner Chris who miss her everyday.
She was taken from us far too soon, but in her short 30 years, she lived full and wonderful life, filled with laughter, fun and adventure and I cherish the memories of all the times we spent together. Many of these were going for walks and attempting to go on runs to keep fit at uni; and so on September 18th, I will be taking on the Richmond Runfest 10k run, while my better half Shim will be joining in and running the half marathon in Katie's memory to raise funds for Macmillan cancer who helped support Katie during her fight. Sarah our partner in crime from uni halls is also running too! Those of you who know us will know we are not runners so please support us and give generously!
We are pledging to raise £300, it’s a fantastic amount and could keep a typical Macmillan support centre stocked with all the resources it needs to support people affected by cancer for a month.
But we want raise even more... £500 could help a parent work out how to tell their children they have cancer and apply for a disabled parking badge and the right benefits to protect their home when they have to stop work and apply for a grant for childcare during treatment. It could help a mum, a dad understand what the future might look like.
Thank you so much for supporting us and Macmillan. Feel free to come heckle us or cheer us on, on race day! https://www.richmondrunningfestival.com
