Story
Hi Folks
I thought this year rather than my usual two weeks of summer sun & fun I would combine a wish to raise money for a very worthy charity and my love of motorcycling. What started out as a short trip to the Baltic States and a possible run to Moscow has developed into a round trip of 6000 miles. Hopefully I will raise some money for the charity.
The charity is the Medecins Sans Frontieres (UK).
The organisation provides medical help and is now an international medical aid agency with a reputation of not only being the first to arrive in a crisis-hit area, but often, the only organisation to be there at all. The movement was awarded the 1999 Nobel Peace Prize.
In May 2006 I will be leaving home in Manchester and heading off to Russia. I plan to ride solo through 15 countries including many from the former Soviet Union. My route will be through Germany and Poland into Latvia and across into the Russian Federation and Moscow. Then down through the Ukraine to Odessa via Kiev. Once on the Black Sea coast I will turn west and head for Romania and Moldavia up through the Carpathian Mountains to Hungary, eventually finding my way to Croatia and the Adriatic coast before turning for home via Italy, Austria, Germany and France . A total of 6000 miles in 5 weeks. And as anyone who knows my map reading skills will tell you, you can add another 500 to that!
Please put your hands in your pockets, wallets, purses, bags and send as much as you can. Every penny you send is going to the charity. I have set a high target but it’s a long ride and you know it’s worth it.
