Teddy Bears Nursery School remembers Emilia
This February involved all the children and parents at Teddy Bears fundraising for The UK Sepsis Trust.
The charity raises awareness about Sepsis helping to prevent thousands of deaths. It also funds vital support work, helping people adjust to life after sepsis. Recently ‘Sepsis’ has been quite current in the media with the Strep A outbreak.
However our main reason is in tribute to EMILIA LOPEZ who was just 3 years old when she passed away from sepsis on 5 March 2020, as a result of an undiagnosed invasive Strep A infection. Emilia was a lively wonderful little girl who attended Teddy Bears for a year and a half. Therefore, we have chosen, The UK Sepsis Trust to raise money for, as we encourage the children to learn about helping others. This also fitted in nicely with Emilia’s 6th Birthday on the 8 February!
Throughout the month we held a cake sale, completed a sponsored walk, held a special raffle with great prizes thanks to the generosity of so many of our parents, and an auction for a Portsmouth Football Club signed football! It was amazing to see how we got behind such a special cause!
