Story
I am Ted, and I am 7 years old. I have been having checkups at The Alder Hey Cardiac Unit since I was 1, when my parents found out I had a heart murmur and sub-aortic stenosis. Just before Christmas we found out my condition had deteriorated and I needed emergency open heart surgery.
I spent 24 hours in intensive care and 6 days on Ward K2 where the most amazing nurses and doctors looked after me. They gave me special medicines to make me better ( I didn’t like the taste of some of them so they kept changing the medicine until they found one that I liked), they shared their lunch with me, got me ice-cream and the doctors even came in the night to visit me to make the pain go away. They even let my mum stay with me all the time that I was in the hospital. A special nurse even played games with me and made my stay as fun as it could be.
I had 3 months off school and I am now back at school playing with my friends all because the Alder Hey Cardiac surgeons have made my heart better, and the nurses took special care of me on ward K2. I am taking part in the triathlon as a very small thank you to all the amazing staff who made me better and to help make all the other poorly children better too.
On Sunday 28th september , lots of my friends and I are going to be taking part in the Cycletta Triathlon, which consists of a scoot, bike ride and run. I will be raising money for the cardiac unit at Alder Hey Children's Hospital. They did such a good job in helping me to recover so quicklyand I would be really grateful of your sponsorship and support.
Thank you for your time,
Ted x
