Story
Dear brothers and sisters,
I've ditched the desk for a White Collar MMA charity event for Sunday, 7th April 2024, throwing kicks and punches to raise funds for Palestine through Islamic Relief. The cause is urgent and the donation will go to those in need.
I am also participating in this MMA platform in memory of my colleague and friend who passed away. I am committed to raising funds for a cause she was passionate about, and I'm also embracing the challenge of my fitness journey, just as she had begun hers.
Islamic Relief has been working in Palestine since 1997, delivering vital life-saving aid.
Over 22,185 Palestinians have lost their lives, and more than 57,697 have been injured. The number is expected to rise rapidly with ongoing airstrikes, and almost half of the casualties are children.
In the West Bank, at least 226 people have been killed, and a minimum of 2,750 have been injured.
In the Gaza Strip, airstrikes are believed to have destroyed tens of thousands of homes, forcing 4 out of 5 people to flee. Many are seeking refuge in schools and hospitals, urgently requiring food and basic survival items.
Serious health concerns arise from poor sanitation and overcrowding, leading to reported outbreaks of Hepatitis A. This highly contagious disease adds to the growing health risks faced by civilians in Gaza.
Compounding the crisis, the healthcare system is on the verge of collapse due to widespread destruction and damage to hospitals. Operational medical facilities are extremely inadequate and overcrowded, with reports of centers holding three times their capacities.
Islamic Relief has been actively supporting Palestine by providing essential humanitarian aid. They focus on delivering food, medical assistance, and basic survival items to those affected by conflict and crisis.
The organization plays a crucial role in addressing health concerns, poor sanitation, and overcrowding in Gaza.
Islamic Relief's efforts contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people, ensuring they have access to necessary resources during challenging times.
