Hello and thanks for dropping by!
In September we pushed the extremes of endurance by travelling thousands of Kilometers across the India
Subcontinent… in a 3 wheel auto rickshaw. With no preparation and less luggage we did our damndest to force 150cc of Indian engineering from Goa, India to
Pakhora, Nepal at a top speed of 30 miles an hour and in a space of 2 weeks,
through forest, desert, mountain and worst of all, notoriously treacherous
Indian roundabouts and all this in the monsoon and with no support
whatsoever. So why did we do this? Well, we’re hoping
to raise a serious wedge of money for charity (thanks to everyone who has donated so far). They're both great causes so
please give to both – there’s a separate Just Giving page for each one. This
page is for the charity
Frank Water Projects, our other is for
Maiti Nepal
(
http://tempuri.org/tempuri.html). We're aiming to raise at least £1000 for each.
A little background on Frank Water. Currently 1 billion people worldwide
lack access to clean drinking water. 2.2 million people die every year from
dirty water related diseases which affects mainly under 5’s. Millions of women
and children walk miles and spend hours just to collect dirty water which often
comes from old pumps, boreholes and wells which are often contaminated. Frank
Water exists to provide as many of these people as possible with sustainable, affordable,
clean water projects and money raised will go the capital costs of building
clean water facilities. Villagers also contribute to build costs for commitment
and ownership.
As you probably know, donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and
totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Adventures For
Development (who will pass on your donations to Maiti Nepal) gets your money
faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid plus
a 3% supplement are added to your donation.
Thanks,
Simon, Leanne and Mark.
