Story
Aberdeen FC's Community Call Centre has been hard at work in the last 10 weeks making contact with over 8500 fans and making over 1000 deliveries of essentials to those in need through the club's partnership with CFINE (https://www.cfine.org/).
Doing these calls for 8/9 hours a day, on top of hectic home lives, is something the team have taken on with great energy and enthusiasm, but self care is important in order to keep ourselves positive and energetic throughout a very tough and challenging situation.
We won't be getting our scheduled trip to Hampden for the Scottish Cup Semi and Final due to the suspension of football, we look forward to these events as much as the fans attending. Why not walk or run the distance between the two stadiums (and back) for AFCCT?
From Monday 1st of June, our team will be getting up from our desks and out into the sunshine (hopefully) and making our way to Hampden in spirit. We will provide updates on how far we have got and have already planned to have a bacon roll when we get to The Horn, a favourite of the trip south.
Thanks to an incredible start from the team, we have decided to go on a EUROPEAN TOUR! Visiting some of the grounds we have been to as a fanbase in the last few years:
Pittodrie>Burnley>FC Groningen>Bayern Munich>HNK Rijeka> Siroki Brijeg
Not only that, the journey between all of these stadiums (when taking the coastal route to Siroki) totals 1903 miles!
Please see below a brief outline of the #StillStandingFree campaign and links to further information.
Any donations are greatly appreciated by everyone at the club and will be given to AFCCT to allow them to continue with their incredible work in the community.
#StillStandingFree Our response to support our community in the fight against COVID 19. As the country prepares for increasingly draconian measures in response to the growing spread of coronavirus, Aberdeen Football Club and Aberdeen FC Community Trust have marshalled their forces to support fans and the wider community in the North-East.The core focus of our efforts is to work in partnership with Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE) to make deliveries of food to areas where we already work to reduce food poverty, supporting children during the school closures.
