We are powered by people. We’re here to find a cure and improve lives, together.

Story

Between 5th - 12th September 2018, team Touch The Butt are swimming the English Channel to raise money for Parkinsons UK. We will each be swimming for an hour at a time, in a repeated cycle, until we reach France.

The average time to complete a Channel swim is 13 hours 24 minutes, and the longest ever was 28 hours 44 minutes, so let's hope we are faster than that!

The water will be cold, the jellyfish will be plentiful, and the swim will be long so please sponsor generously!

Our team are: Jessica Harrold, Emma Gibbard, Amanda Davey, Alison Croughton, Phill Nobes, Zoe Tridgell.

Alison's sprightly and energetic mum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2014. Despite now being 78 she still lives an independent and active life, partly due to the amazing support she receives from Parkinson’s UK.

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. There is no cure but there are lots of different treatments, therapies and support available to manage the condition.

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
