Story
On the seventh of May 2015, we lost one of our best friends, Torsie Haugli. On the morning of her college graduation, Torsie was taken to hospital for severe pain and a high fever. She was then transferred to the Cleveland Clinic, where she recieved the diagnosis that she had a very rare cancer; Anapaestic Large T-Cell Lymphoma ALK Positive with Leukaemic involvement. Shortly after the diagnosis, Torsie began chemotherapy under the direction of Deepa Jagadeesh, MD, in preparation for a bone marrow transplant. However, tragically, days before the transplant, doctors discovered a brain tumour.
For Torsie, the bone marrow transplant was the light at the end of the tunnel, and gave her the strength to keep on fighting. Even though the bone marrow couldn't save our friend, every penny raised will go to help save someone else's friend. Torsie lived life to the full every day, and she would have wanted someone else to be able to do the same, which is why we're running for Anthony Nolan.
"If ever there is a day when we're not together... There is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart...I'll always be with you." - A.A. Milne
Team Torsie took on the London marathon challenge in 2016 and we have decided to run again for this great cause in memory of Torsie.
