On Saturday 2 May Team Tommy will be taking on the challenge and completing the Tough Mudder.  Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile obstacle course designed to test physical strength and mental grit. We also have a large group of Team Tommy Children doing the Mini Mudder a mile long course of mud and obstacles.

The Tommy Salisbury Fund is celebrating it’s 10^th Anniversary this year and wants to raise a record amount bringing the total by the end of this year to ½ a million pounds.  Tommy Salisbury is nearly 15 and was diagnosed with Choroideremia when he was 4, since then we have funded the medical research into this condition at Imperial College in London.  In 2011 the first worldwide clinical trial took place as a result of our funding.  This has been a massive success and phase II has just started.  Hopefully by the end of next year there will be enough results to apply to the department of health to get this approved and from trial stage into the clinic and more importantly ready for Tommy.  This year we will continue to fund Imperial College who are researching different treatments and processes to slow down the deterioration, but we will also fund Prof. Robert MacLaren at John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford to help him purchase a special microscope that is needed for the trial.  This will reduce the risk attached to the operation and will be able to produce a 360◦ 3D image of the eye. 

Each year we are amazed at the support we receive from our family and friends and are so grateful to all our members of Team Tommy who continually want to help us.  Every parent wants there child to be happy, safe and healthy and be able to live their life as other children their age.  Paul and I have a bigger challenge in achieving this for Tommy and would be so grateful if you could sponsor Team Tommy Tough Mudder 2015.

We also have a group of amazing kids who will be completing the Mini Mudder in the afternoon on the same day.  It is such an achievement to do this and a real challenge for the little ones and we will be so proud of them once they have completed this.
