The Lilongwe Institute of Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery (LION) is an autonomous not-for-profit institution in Malawi where BSSH and BAHT aim to work with and train local surgeons, trainees and therapists to deliver and educate in patient care.

Story

The Staff from the Orthopaedic Outpatient Clinic and the Greenwood Day Surgery Unit at Stamford Hospital in Lincolnshire have joined together in support of the BSSH LION Hand Unit in Malawi. Jen Pitt has gathered a fine team from clinic comprising Susie Mears, Wendy Postlethwaite, Nichola Wells, Sarah Moss, Jackie Walster. The Greenwood Day Surgery Unit members of this are Sue Sykes, Georgie Ferguson, Charlotte Morley, Nigel Measures, Racheal Lane and Lorna Johnson. This talented and enthusiastic group of professionals are keen to support the development of the BSSH LION Hand Unit for the duration of the project. The first fundraising event will be a "Basket & Cake Stall" at Stamford Hospital on the 17th March 2023. There will be further events going forward, using the new Stamford Hospital Garden as great venue for an outdoor event in the summer.
