Story

This is a team of family and friends walking this event together and we appreciate you taking your time to visit our Just Giving page.

As many of our family and friends will know Carol Hooper was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease in 2020 and she is our inspiration behind this fundraising walk.

MND is unforgivingly cruel and debilitating. Like many others Carol has been fit and healthy her entire life prior to living with MND, and this change has been heartbreakingly difficult to accept and adapt to.

Born and raised in Cheddar, Carol played hockey for Sexey's Grammar  School and went on to join Cheddar Ladies Hockey Club as a teen. She remains committed to the club today, attending as many matches as she can to support from the side line. Beyond playing, she umpired, trained the teams and played an active part in the running of the Hockey Club, and continues to take part in the administrative duties where she can. Carol also coached and umpired Cheddar Valley Youth Hockey Team for 10 years prior to her diagnosis.

One of the hardest things to accept with MND is that there is no answer as to why this happens?! And then once it does, the disease cannot be treated or prevented.

All monies raised will go to the Darby Rimmer Foundation. This foundation does unbelievable work in supporting those with MND as well as supporting research to find a cure.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
