Story
I am attempting to complete 100 Miles in March along with my sisters and cousin to raise money and awareness to Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation in memory of my Uncle.
Lung cancer is the UK’s biggest cancer killer and yet we aren’t screening for it on the Isle of Man! It is so important that we push for screening to be available considering the deadliness of the disease.
Early detection saves lives. Which might one day be your life or that of your family or friends. So it is so important to support this cause.
Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation was founded on an unrivalled ambition to improve the early detection of lung cancer.
Their research into early detection has laid the groundwork for lung cancer screening and we now stand on the cusp of a national lung cancer screening programme.
Whilst Roy Castle continues to campaign for this implementation, they are proud to support the continued rollout of its Targeted Lung Health Check programmes, which is seeing a 77% early detection rate.
There is no doubt screening can help revolutionise the earlier detection of lung cancer, but it is far from the end of the story with Roy Castles ongoing research into the development of new early diagnostic techniques, including blood tests and sputu.
