Dear Prostate Cancer,
When someone you love is taken away
from you and you are left truly devastated.
When you cry so much your body hurts.
When your whole world is torn apart.
When you know that you never want anyone
else to feel that pain.
When you want to scream on top of your voice to strangers in the street...”Do you know what Prostate Cancer is?” “Do you know the symptoms?”
Then you know you have to do something.
Well that’s us Team Sir Martyn Thomas.

You Prostate Cancer took my husband Martyn Thomas away from me. You took him from my three daughters and you took him from our family and friends and all our lives have changed forever.

On September 15th 2015 in our doctors surgery the word Cancer was spoken. A week later the diagnosis Prostate Cancer confirmed. Marts battle began and we were all there to support him. Mart was amazing he fought his battle with every bit of strength he could find. In true Mart style he made us all laugh when he courageously battled his symptoms and we all cried together when things got tough, really tough.

You Prostate Cancer took Mart from us on Christmas Day 2015 at 3pm just 14 weeks after diagnosis and at just 55 years of age.

But what you Prostate Cancer didn’t take from us was Mart’s Spirit. You didn’t take his love and you didn’t take his laughter.

So take that Prostate Cancer!

We kept it and we will use it.
We will use it to beat you.
To raise awareness.
And to walk, to walk 30 miles.

And with each and every step, every breath,
feel Mart walk beside us.

For you can’t break our spirit either Prostate Cancer. 

But one day I promise you we'll break yours!
