Story
Firstly, I hate running... mostly as it makes my dodgy knee ache and secondly I always find it boring. Give me a netball and I'll run around for ages but without the distraction of sport, it's usually a no from me.
So why am I do a 10k? Well surely as someone who hates running, training for and doing this run really deserves some support and donations (well I think so anyway)!
But also, every time I find it hard, mentally or physically, I'll remember what Tally went through leading up to him passing away. He was and always will be my hero and my favourite person in the whole world (and always was before he became ill too) but if he could cope with everything he did with no pain relief up until the last few weeks...well I can suck it up and cope with a little discomfort in my knee and push past any boredom to raise money for a really well deserving charity.
Sue Ryder supported us in the last couple of weeks before Tally passed away and they were so lovely and kind to both of us. All of the carers that visited us at home were amazing and would only do what Tally wanted, even if it was just to check in on us, as he often didn't want much fuss. But having someone check in twice a day and also offer me emotional support was a real lifeline at such a difficult time, especially with the risk of Covid restricting family and friends visiting.
And to finish up I also want to mention that I'll also be running in memory of a good friend and fellow tree geek, Sue Adams, who knew both Tally and I, who passed away about 2 months before Tally. She was cared for at Sue Ryder, Cheltenham and she always said how nice it was there and how kind the carers were, and she loved that she could look out and see the trees from her windows. Sue was a lovely, interesting and one of a kind person, which is what I really liked about her.
Please give anything you can, even if it's only a £1, it all helps 😊 and help me smash through my target and raise as much as I can for this amazing, local charity ❤️
P.S. If you want to join me on the run or come along on cheer me on on the day please do!
