Story
We did it!
I am very pleased and incredibly proud to say that Team Scozzafava (Sam, Francesca, and Sadie), completed Trek26 of the Brecon Beacons on Saturday 4th September.
Despite being one man down (sadly, Marco was unable to make the rescheduled date), we battled through some extremely tough conditions to make it to the finish line in just under 12 hours.
It was by far the hardest thing we have ever done, but also the most rewarding and such an amazing experience.
Thank you so much to everyone that has donated to our Just Giving page; your donations will go directly to Alzheimer's Society and will be used to help those people, and their families, affected by dementia, and also to fund research into finding a cure for this devastating disease. We are all so very grateful.
We are all now nursing some very sore legs and feet, but so pleased that we made it!
Lots of love
Sam, Francesca, and Sadie
On Saturday 4th September 2021, Team Scozzafava - Sam, Francesca and Marco Scozzafava, and Sadie Seery, will be participating in Alzheimer’s Society’s Trek26; a 26-mile trek of the Brecon Beacons, that includes Pen y Fan, Southern Britain’s highest mountain at 886 metres!
We are walking in memory of Sam’s Mum and Francesca and Marco’s Nan, Joyce, who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s in her mid-fifties, and sadly passed away in 2009, just after her 70th birthday.
Over 850,000 people in the UK are currently living with dementia and as the population ages and people live for longer, it has become one of the most important health and care issues facing the world. Dementia doesn’t discriminate, it devastates lives, and right now there is no cure. Alzheimer’s Society is doing everything they can to find a cure, but they need our help. That is why we are taking on this challenge, and we would be so grateful if you would kindly support us by making a donation on our page.
We started training back in December and despite some very sore feet and tired legs, and still having a long way to go, we are making progress! We know the Trek is going to be very tough, but we hope that every mile we walk and every pound we raise, will help to make a difference to the lives of people affected by dementia and bring us closer to a cure.
Thank you for your generosity and support!
Sam, Francesca, Marco and Sadie
