On the 4th of November this year, two light heavyweights of the marathon world join forces to run a 26 mile course through the five boroughs of New York City.

Zoe, who will be running New York for the second time in 12 months joins up with brother Carl, fresh from his recent injury hampered London Marathon and a summer of "recovery", to form Team Schmid.

The event will no doubt provide an amusing fight to the end as both of us stagger / fall over the finish line, but we are also running in order to raise money for our chosen charity. We are not undertaking another 3 months of arduous training simply for fun.......

Having previously run for the NSPCC and Shelter, we have decided this time to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. 1 in 3 people will suffer from cancer at some point, so virtually everyone will be affected by it during their lifetime, either directly or through a loved one or family member.

Macmillan was set up to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. They provide practical, medical, emotional and financial support and push for better cancer care.
