Story

Thanks for visiting our page!

We are taking part in the Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run 2018 in support of Epilepsy Research.  You can read all about the event on the linked team page, but in essence it's a 48-hour tour of the UK - London to John O'Groats to Lands End and back to London in a weekend....2000 miles + in two days. The mathemagicians amongst you will already have worked out that that is an average speed over 40mph without stopping- and all in cars that are more than 40 years old and which weren't all that reliable even when they were new....what could possibly go wrong?

In the aptly named crew 'Taking the Pi' are Reg, Martin, Jason and Gary - thrashing the nuts off a red 1973 Triumph 2.5 PI, all the time being pursued valiantly by 'Call the Police' crewed by PC Chris, and WPCs Annie and Sarah driving a genuine ex- Metropolitan Constabulary 1978 Triumph 2500 TC in Police Blue.  Complete with blue light and siren!

The cars are great. OK, so they don't have air con, Cruise, electric windows, airbags, decent brakes, comfy seats.... But they do have the thrill factor that comes from notorious unreliability and dodgy BL build quality.  In the past, we've experienced punctures, electrical problems (LOTS of them!), leaking fuel pipes,  failed brakes, a door that flew open mid-corner etc etc... Bring it on! And that's just the cars... Think of the effect of combining snatch-and-grab McD, cakes, ice cream, cooked breakfasts, onion flavour monster munch all washed down with Red Bull, and then shaken up in a car with iffy suspension... Not pleasant at times!

So to help salve our collective conscience and apologise to society for the negative environmental impact caused by feeding middle-aged blokes fizzy drinks, locking them in a small metal box on wheels and then shaking it violently for two days, we are  asking you to please dig down the back of the sofa, find a few quid, and support our efforts for this great cause.

Thanks!
