Story
Pathway Project is a grass roots organisation and has helped so many people who have suffered and are currently suffering domestic abuse in all of it's forms.
To me Pathway is more than a service, it is a community, a force. A team of wonderful people who constantly go above and beyond to help as many people as they are able to.
Sadly, recently pathway has lost a lot of it's funding and subsequently a big chuck of it's staff. They are still ploughing on, but they rely ever increasingly on voluntary support and independent donations. I personally don't want to know what our community would look like if it were to no longer be able to operate,so, here I am, trying to raise awareness and raise some pennies from you kind folk.
So... a little about me.
Hey, I'm Mel!
I am a domestic abuse survivor, as such, this charity has a special place in my heart. I have volunteered for pathway for almost three years and the team are truly inspirational- so it isn't only what pathway do but also who they are that makes them so special.
I have recently gone through cancer (long story), but I've been given the all clear to train again, and have a new found vigor and inspiration to make a difference somehow. Cancer gets a lot of attention and money, which is why I have instead decided to concentrate my efforts to a cause I feel is more in need of funds and awareness.
I'll be joined by some awesome friends of mine who wanted to get involved, so far I'm joined by Deb and Sabrina (I'll see if they want to say a little about themselves too), but trust me, they're pretty darn cool.
So... what is it?
Well.....
- England's longest zip-wire (by the way, terrified of heights!), completed
- 5k colour run Uttoxeter racecourse: myself and my friend Sabrina have just booked our places for this 5k obstacle course for 13th of July, why not come throw some colour at us? :)
- Hand cycle Marathon: yep, you heard right, 26.2 miles of arm cycling.
Myself and Deb will be doing this together, we intend to do this for 5 hours (and hopefully smash that 26.2 miles in that time) and do 30 minute increments each. This date is currently being arranged for July sometime
