Slough Sleep-Out for the Homeless – Saturday 23 November
We are sure that most people have at some time or other walked by homeless people on the street and sadly wondered what they can do to help that is truly effective.
Here is your chance to help.
Team Maltman’s Green School, Ms Clifford, Mrs Woodward, Mrs Barrett and Mrs Luckett are going to spend a night out “sleeping” in a cardboard box to raise fund for The London and Slough Run; a local charity that we as a school have supported for many years.
Specifically, we are fundraising for Slough Winter Night Shelter. This event is critical to the success of the shelter as it is raises the funds needed to run the night shelter every night from January to the end of March (typically the coldest months of the winter).
Thanks to volunteers, Slough council and other bodies, the Slough Winter Night Shelter 2019 was open for three months and was used by 44 guests, 22 of whom went on to find accommodation and many have since found employment. A range of guests used the shelter from entrenched rough sleepers to victims of domestic abuse and those who found themselves in need of help for a short time.
We know that we are going to experience a cold and uncomfortable
night (we will have some laughs too!) but this is just one night…….
Any support that you can give us to help those in need, however small will be truly appreciated.
