Story
Team Lindsey
We are taking part in the ‘The Marsden March’ to raise money to help them to continue their fantastic work and in the hope that one day cancer will be beaten. This is in memory of Lindsey; Charlie's wonderful Mum and our amazing, beautiful sister, sister-in-law and auntie.
After Lindsey was sadly diagnosed in May 2011, she spent a lot of time at the RMH in Sutton, attending appointments and having chemotherapy. She fought so very hard, and always with a smile on her face, but it was too much for her body to beat and she sadly passed away at the RMH Chelsea last April, having spent five weeks in the intensive care unit.
Last year’s Marsden March occured a week before she was admitted for her operation at Chelsea, and she said then that next year (2013) we would all do the walk together. So in memory of Lindsey, with other family and friends,we are all walking the 14 miles between the two RMH hospitals to help raise money to support both the Royal Marsden Hospitals so hopefully other families in the future won’t have to go through the pain that we as a family have.
Lindsey, you will still be walking with us every step of the way, as you do every day, and I know you will be looking down on us, probably telling us to get a move on!
She is much loved and greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Any sponsorship would be very gratefully received.
Nicki's story
As well as doing the Marsden March for Linds, the Duffys are also doing it in recognition of the fantastic support the Marsden gave to me in my own fight with cancer; a fight which, so far, I seem to be winning as I have been given the all clear following my surgery and chemo.
I have to thank Lindsey for the doctors finding my cancer in the first place as without her being diagnosed, it may have been several years down the line and too late to deal with for me. Unfortunately it was too late for her and, for her, I have to make the most of every opportunity; they say things happen for a reason and I have to believe that her dying and me being ‘saved’ has some greater purpose. So, here’s to positive action and a walk which, as those who know me will agree, will be somewhat of a challenge!!
The Marsden does brilliant work in both cancer research and treatment and we would be immensely grateful if you could dig deep to support such a wonderful cause so that more people can survive this terrible disease.
Thank you.
